Everyone is always eager to start thinking about their prom as soon as it hits prom season. And we don’t blame you. With so many things to think about, from the dress, to the accessories, make up and hair, you need to be organized in your prom prep. As the event gets closer, salon appointment slots start getting booked up, and dress shops may start getting less new stock. We believe it is never too early to start preparing for you prom.
Three months before prom:
Get inspiration & ideas for your prom dresses. Start skimming through magazines, checking you tube videos, and scanning for your fav celebs on blogs and fashion websites to see what kind of dress you’d like. Once decided, start browsing your local prom dress shops and trying on some styles, this will show you what actually suits you. Prom dresses 2019 will be full of creativity, individuality, and glam, so get browsing and have fun with it.
Two months before prom:
Book your hair and makeup appointment. Everyone will aim to get them done in advance, so to make sure you get the slot you want, its best to book way in advance.
Once your appointment is booked, start researching the kind of hairstyle you may like, and the makeup look you would like to go for. In terms of hairstyles, there are so many to choose from – up, down, half-up, braided…, and the style you pick should match the dress you choose.
A week before prom:
Get a facial, so your skin feels fresh and glowing. We recommend this so early just incase you break out a little the day or two after the facial.
Two days before prom:
Get your spray tan done. Having this done two days before means it will still be fresh on prom day. Usually they start to fade after a few days so better to wait until closer to the event.
Day before prom:
It’s time to do your nails. Nails chip easily, so, book in for your nail appointment, or do your nails yourself, the day before your prom event to make sure they are looking as fab as you will.
The day of prom:
Today you will have your hair and makeup appointments, JJ’s House designer Jessica recommends ‘having your hair done around 6 hours before prom starts ensures you have time for tweaks and changes if necessary, then plenty of time to get your make up done, get home, dressed, and feel relaxed on route to your prom location’.
Now you have everything prepared, it’s time for the most important part. To have fun.. It is the day you have been planning for months, so dance the night away, make great memories, and enjoy every second. You will be talking about this day for years to come.
